New Orleans startup, Sidecar, acquires established tech conference
New Orleans, Louisiana: Local entrepreneur Amith Nagarajan announced early this year that Sidecar, a professional development organization aimed at serving purpose driven leaders, acquired digitalNow, an annual conference built specifically for the most forward-thinking C-Level association and volunteer leaders.
The announcement came in January of 2021 after months of discussions and collaboration. For over 20 years, digitalNow founders Don Dee and Hugh Lee have offered an exclusive and interactive experience through the conference, and with Don Dee assisting the new ownership with executing the 2021 conference, the value will continue to grow.
“DigitalNow has always set itself apart from other industry events because of Hugh and Don’s willingness to experiment and seek inspiration from untapped sources and new technologies,” said Sidecar general manager Chelsea Brasted. “That perspective is one we value highly, and it’s why we’re so excited to be able to take digitalNow into the future.”
One change the Sidecar team has rallied behind is the addition of hybridization to the traditionally in-person conference. Sidecar marketing specialist, Heather Nolan, shared that they “envision the future of digitalNow to be hybrid, combining the exclusive elements of the in-person event with the wide-reaching capabilities of live streaming.”
According to Nolan, “we also believe the acceleration in virtual event technology in 2020 presents a fantastic opportunity to bring the critical conversations at digitalNow to an even bigger audience, all while protecting the intimacy crucial to the success of the in-person conference.”
As digitalNow 2021 enters production, it’s obvious that the years of experience, knowledge and hard work will continue to reveal itself in the quality of the conference.
